Gloss Salon & Spa

Hello my loves,

A good experience matters a lot to me. Getting my nails and hair done is a rather a calming, de-stressing, and a comforting task for me, more than it just being a beautifying task. When ever I am feeling down you will find me in the salon -true story-.

Now, the reason I am sharing this because the day I was invited to Gloss Salon & Spa I was actually feeling down  -one of those days, you know?-, but left feeling much better.

Anyhow, let me start by showing you the clean, simple and white color theme design of the Salon -classy and easy on the eyes-.

Now, lets begin my experience with their hair services. The first thing they did is examine my hair to choose an appropriate hair treatment. We decided on the normal to dry hair treatment as the ends of my hair were feeling a little dehydrated and needed some extra love.

I was quite excited when I noticed that they were not using the usual L'Oreal hair products on me - Don't get me wrong they are great, but it is nice to change-.

The products were by a company called "Davines" and the products were from the "Natural Tech" collection (LOVE).

I liked that the hair stylist was telling me what she was doing at each step. She began washing my hair with the shampoo, and oh the joyful feeling of someone washing your hair. I really enjoy the scalp massage they perform while they wash your hair, and the hair stylist "Honilett" did a great job doing so.

Next, she re-applied the same shampoo and kept it on for 5 minutes to allow the shampoo to do its job. Then, she washed my hair again and applied the conditioner to the ends of my hair and left it to work its magic for 10 minutes. The final step was to apply the hair serum directly into my scalp by sectioning my hair and massaging the product in.

I really liked the products they used on my hair. It is made using natural ingredients that are good for your hair and it is parapen free, which is amazing but obviously that was not why I loved it before reading the ingredients part. I enjoyed the sensation and calming smell of the products while they were being used on my hair. If you leave the shampoo for few minutes on your hair it gives a refreshing cooling effect similar to that mint gives, as you apply the conditioner to the ends of your hair you immediately feel the softness it gives. Same thing was with the serum, it does what it says,  refreshing and SOOTHING with the same cooling effect as the shampoo but this one felt like cold water was being pored to my hair -how refreshing-.

The products they used on me -Normal to Dry Hair-

1) Natural tech Nourishing Shampoo, specifically for dehydrated scalp and dry hair.

2) Well-Being Conditioner, designed to untangle and moisturize hair

3) Natural Tech Calming Superactive, soothing and reliving serum for sensitive scalp

The final step was getting my hair blown dry. I asked for voluminous blow dry and that is exactly what I got. Bouncy and voluminous hair. My hair was blown dry by hair stylist Carine.

One thing though, I recommend using the oil serum on a day that you are not planning to blow-dry your hair because it does leave your roots looking a little bit oily.

Considering how much I liked the hair products, of-cours I had to buy them. I got the Nourishing Shampoo (250 ml) and the Well Being Conditioner (150 ml) for BD14.5. I can't wait to start using them and seeing the results within a few weeks time. How cute is Davines shopping bag though? "Smile at those who never smile at you" yes please.

I also realized I was using my hair serums/oils mistakenly. I used to just put some on my hand and massage into my head. The hair stylist told me that I should section the hair on my scalp and pour few drops of the serum and massage in - no wonder, lol-. Thanks Honilett for the tip.

Thank you again Gloss Salon & Spa, I had a good time.

Jioney USA Matte Liquid Lipstick

Hello my lovelies

Hope you all are doing well.

Today I wanted to share with you a liquid lipstick that I came across, which I have never heard of or seen anywhere. I saw this brand in a Makeup Boutique which I saw while I was driving by and then decided to stop and see what they have since I was bored (haha).

Now, at first I didn't pick anything up because I do not like trying brands I have never heard of. But, when I saw the color I gave in and decided to try it out. Lately I have been really into deep red and maroon shades and this color just caught my attention.

I came back and researched the brand, apparently it is an American brand called "Jioney". And this is their website http://www.jioney.com/brandstory.asp . It says that it was founded in 1960 and that is a global beauty company. Strangely enough I could not find the same product I have on their website! maybe its discontinued? Not sure.

But because I really like the color i decided to share this post.

Now, if you are not familiar with liquid lipsticks they are basically a lipstick in a liquid formula that comes in a lipgloss tube and applicator, and when first applied it is wet then it sets completely matte. I love liquid lipstick over regular lipsticks because they are much long wearing and smudge proof.

This is how it looks like

Here is how it looks like when first applied

And here after it is dry

I don't know to explain the color, it is like a deep maroon, plumy, brownish color (haha). It looks very flattering on my skin tone.

And here is a lip swatch

It is actually very long wearing. After it is dry it does not smudge or move!

I purchased this from @maraboutique

hmm, I don't think I have anything more to say x

Have a good day everyone

Sigma Warm Neutrals Palette Review

Hello my lovely readers

In this post I will review an AMAZING palette that I am SOOO impressed and in love with. I was kindly gifted this palette by the sweet owner of Mask cosmetics line (@maskline_bh on Instagram). If you don't know what mask cosmetics line is, it is a beauty shop that sells many different brands located in Segaya, Bahrain. This palette is retailed for BD17.5.

It is the Sigma "Warm Neutrals" eye shadow palette

- Packaging

First lets talk about the packaging. It has a nice, simple packaging. The size is compact which makes it great for travelling. The palette also has a magnet thingy that makes opening and closing the palette very easy. One thing though is that these kind of palettes with this particular material can get dirty easily with the eye shadow powders which I just clean with a makeup wipe.

- Pigmentation

I am so impressed. The pigmentation of these eye shadows are great!!! they are super pigmented. A little bit goes a long way so go easy when dipping your brush.

However, I did notice that the light shades like Oyster sand and Optimistic needs to be layered a few times to give a strong color payoff.

So, Because there are many products I will give a brief description to not make it long and boring.

1) Nars Sheer Glow Foundation

I  tried many foundations in 2014 and this is honestly my favorite. It has a medium/build-able coverage, the more coverage you want just add on another layer. The finish is not completely dewy nor its matte, it just gives a nice glow to the skin and ofcourse you can mattify it using a powder. If you have oily skin you must wear an oil-control primer beneath. I personally use Illamsqua matte veil which I will talk about later on in this post, which keeps any foundation shine free on me.
All in all it is beautiful, easily blend-able and the coverage is build-able. Also looks great in photos.

2) Mac Pro Long Wear Concealer (NC42)

I have many shades of this concealer as I use it on my clients. However, I have to choose this shade NC42 due to the peachy undertones it has. My skin color is Nc35 and this colour works like a corrector on me. It is so beautiful to use on skin pigmentaion, dark circles and even spots. LOVE IT. I often use on scars and spots beneath my Nars foundation.

3) Illamsqua Hydra Matte Veil

Now, as I have an oily t-zone I used to hate foundations, because no matter what primers I tried I still got oily and the foundation did not last ( and I tried many popular primers, the mistake was that they were not designed to keep me matte rather than for other issues such as the Porefessional by benefit). I am so obsessed with this primer and I use it every single time I wear foundation. In simple words it works like magic on my skin and prevents my face from getting oily (yey!!).

4) Mac Select Sheer Loose Powder NC5

So for a long time I was looking for a great brightening powder to set my concealer with. I tried many including banana powder, but I did not think Banana brightened under my eyes enough because I think it is more suitable for darker skin tones. So once I went to Mac and the guy advice this to me and oh thank you for the advice. I love the color, it has a yellow undertone but its super bright on my complexion. It has a strong tent so it does not go translucent on your skin it adds a beautiful brighting colour. So yeah try it if you like highlighting certain areas of the face. Choose a colour depending on your skin tone.

5) Naked 3 & Makeup Forever Customized Palette

So I LOVE purple hue-d eye shadows so these colours have been my go to! I am just really into these shades thus they were my favourite. Plus, these eye shadows are pigmented and easily blendable, specially the ones from makeup forever, they give a strong colour pay off and feel like butter.

The below palette is a great little affordable palette by Essence. I have been using it daily, using the dark shade to fill in my eyebrows and the shimmery shade to highlight them.

6) Mac Lip liners + Nyx

Mac Vino lip liner have been a favorite by my clients. They love it and I love it too. I love the colour it gives, its a dark whine colour. As for Spice and Natrual by nyx, I really like the colour and I wear them almost everytime i wear a lipstick, they are great to contour the lips or to wear with different nude lipsticks.

 7) Brushes

Sigma F35 Tapered Highlighter Brush

This brush is soft, PERFECT for setting your concealer, contouring and applying highlighter. Totally love it and my favorite to do the tasks i mentioned.

Mac 217. I have tried many blending brushes but this remains my favorite and the best quality one. Even after years of owning it still soft and blends perfectly.

Sigma E45 I love this brush to apply color in the crease or in the outer corners, perfect.

Mac 266 my absolute favorite for eyebrows filling.

Sigma E15, sorry the brush is dirty but this is a great brush for defining your lower lash line, especially if you wanna apply the colour so close to your lash line. Also great for top lash line definition and eyebrows filling.

8) Lashes

Iconic by house of lashes. My top fav of 2014; it adds a beautiful look to the eyes, adds thickness and fullness. I have many makeup looks wearing this on my Instagram account @walaabeauty. I love the quality, I wore it more than 4 times and it is still usable. Just take care of it and clean it after each use.

I like this particular style by Huda beauty. It has long wispie hairs which make it look so pretty on the eyes.

Chelsea no.2, this makes the eyes look sweet yet sexy. It is a mink lashes meaning its usable up to 25 times.

9) La tweez tweezers

I love the pink color ( also available in other shades), but the main reason I do is because it comes with a container which makes it very hygienic, also the container has a mirror and the tweezeer has a led light which makes perfect to tweeze in bad lighting as well. I mainly use it to apply lashes but it is sharp and great for tweezing.

10) and finally the colour switch by Mona Vera

This is such an amazing product for Makeup Artists. It is so helpful when you wanna use the same brush but want to switch colors. Absloutley recommend this product.

Thank you for reading in advance and I hope you enjoy the post xx

Love and kisses,
Walaa
